Terms of service

Last updated: September 10, 2026

1. Who We Are

This website is operated by Bolt & Seam, a business operated by François Durocher, located at 52 avenue de Baccarat, Lorraine, Québec J6Z 3A9, Canada ("Bolt & Seam," "we," "us," "our"). Throughout the site, the terms "you" and "your" refer to you, the user or customer. By visiting our site or purchasing from us, you engage in our "Service" and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, including the additional terms and policies referenced here or available by hyperlink — our Privacy Policy, Shipping Policy and Refund Policy form part of these Terms.

If you do not agree to all the terms of this agreement, please do not use the site or place an order.

2. Eligibility and Use of the Site

You must be at least the age of majority in your province, state or country of residence to place an order, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. You may not use our products or site for any unlawful purpose, to violate any law or regulation, to infringe our intellectual property or that of others, to harass or abuse anyone, to submit false information, to upload viruses or malicious code, to collect or track the personal information of others, to spam or scrape, or to interfere with the security features of the Service. We may terminate your use of the Service for breach of any of the above.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.

3. Products — Made to Order

All Bolt & Seam garments are printed to order by our production partners after you place your order; we do not hold finished stock. This means:

  • Delivery involves a production period (typically 2–5 business days) in addition to shipping time. Full timelines are in our Shipping Policy.
  • Orders enter production quickly and can normally only be changed or cancelled within 24 hours of being placed. See section 6.
  • Print placement may vary slightly from garment to garment. Minor variations in position, size and colour saturation are a normal characteristic of direct-to-garment printing and are not defects.

We have made every effort to display our products and their colours accurately, but we cannot guarantee that your screen displays colours exactly as they appear in person. Product images may include mockups or lifestyle photography; the garment you receive may differ slightly in shade or fabric texture.

4. Sizing

Measurements are published on each product page. Because our items are made to order, we cannot restock or resell a garment ordered in the wrong size — please check the size guide before ordering. Exchanges for sizing are handled case by case and may involve a reprint fee, as set out in our Refund Policy.

5. Pricing, Taxes and Availability

Prices are shown in the currency selected at checkout and are subject to change without notice. Applicable Canadian federal and provincial sales taxes are calculated and displayed at checkout. Orders shipped outside Canada may be subject to customs duties, import taxes or handling fees charged by the destination country; these are the customer's responsibility and are not included in our prices or shipping charges.

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue any product at any time, to limit quantities, and to refuse any order. In the rare case of a pricing, description or availability error, we may cancel the affected order and issue a full refund, even after the order has been confirmed; we will notify you by email if this happens.

6. Orders, Changes and Cancellation

By placing an order you make an offer to purchase. Your order is accepted when we send an order confirmation email. We may refuse or cancel any order, including where we suspect fraud, an unauthorised payment method, or a breach of these Terms.

You may change or cancel your order free of charge until it enters production — normally within 24 hours of ordering. Email us at info@boltandseam.com with your order number as soon as possible. Once production begins, the order cannot be cancelled. Please double-check your shipping address at checkout; we are not responsible for orders delivered to an address entered incorrectly, though we will always try to help.

7. Payment

Payments are processed by Shopify Payments and other third-party payment providers. We do not store your full payment card details. You represent that you are authorised to use the payment method you provide and that the billing information you supply is true and complete. Payment providers process your data under their own terms and privacy policies, and payment card transactions are handled in accordance with PCI-DSS standards.

8. Shipping, Risk and Title

Shipping timelines, carriers and free-shipping terms are set out in our Shipping Policy. Delivery estimates are estimates, not guarantees, and can be affected by carrier delays, customs and events beyond our control. Risk of loss and title pass to you on delivery to the carrier; where a parcel is lost in transit we will nevertheless work with the carrier and, in the circumstances described in our Refund Policy, reship or refund your order.

9. Returns and Refunds

Our Refund Policy governs returns, replacements and refunds and forms part of these Terms. In short: because every item is printed for you, we do not accept change-of-mind returns, but we replace or refund any item that arrives damaged, misprinted or incorrect when you contact us within 30 days of delivery with a photo. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the Québec Consumer Protection Act or other applicable consumer protection legislation.

10. Intellectual Property

All artwork, characters, designs, illustrations, text, graphics, logos, photographs and other content on this site are owned by Bolt & Seam or used under licence, and are protected by copyright and trademark law. Purchasing a garment gives you ownership of that physical item only. It does not transfer any rights in the design.

You may not reproduce, copy, trace, redraw, print, resell commercially, or use our designs to create derivative products, whether by hand or using automated or AI tools, without our written permission. Personal photos of you wearing our products are welcome and encouraged — including on social media.

11. Your Submissions

If you send us design ideas, suggestions, reviews, photos or other content ("Submissions"), you agree that we may use, edit, copy, publish and distribute them in any medium without restriction, credit or compensation, and without any obligation of confidentiality. You confirm your Submissions are your own, do not infringe anyone's rights, and are not unlawful, defamatory or abusive. We may, but are not obliged to, monitor, edit or remove content we consider objectionable. You remain responsible for anything you submit.

12. Third-Party Services and Links

Our Service is hosted by Shopify and our products are produced and fulfilled by Printify and its print partners. The site may also contain links to third-party sites and materials that we do not control. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, products or policies of third parties, and any dealings with them are between you and them. Review their terms before engaging with them.

13. Accuracy of Information and Site Availability

We are not responsible if information on this site is not accurate, complete or current. Material here is provided for general information and should not be relied on as the sole basis for a decision. We may change site content at any time without notice, and we have no obligation to update it. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis; we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, and we may suspend, withdraw or restrict all or part of it without notice.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Bolt & Seam, François Durocher, and our suppliers and service providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, punitive, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service or any products purchased, including lost profits, lost data, or damages arising from delay in delivery.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. Some jurisdictions, including Québec, do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law, and nothing in these Terms excludes your rights under the Consumer Protection Act (Québec) or other mandatory consumer protection law.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bolt & Seam and its operator, partners, suppliers and service providers from any claim or demand, including reasonable legal fees, made by a third party due to your breach of these Terms or the documents they incorporate, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

16. Privacy

Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have under Québec's Law 25 and other applicable privacy legislation.

17. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Québec and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute shall be brought before the courts of the judicial district of Terrebonne, Québec, except where mandatory consumer protection law entitles you to bring proceedings in the courts of your own place of residence. We encourage you to contact us first — most issues are resolved by email in a day.

18. Language

The parties have requested that these Terms and all related documents be drawn up in English. Les parties ont demandé que cette convention ainsi que tous les documents qui s'y rattachent soient rédigés en anglais. Where a French version of these Terms is provided and a discrepancy arises, the French version prevails for consumers residing in Québec.

19. General

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the policies posted on this site, constitute the entire agreement between you and Bolt & Seam and supersede any prior agreements or communications.

Severability. If any provision is found unlawful or unenforceable, it is severable and does not affect the validity of the remaining provisions.

Waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of it.

Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.

Force majeure. We are not liable for failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including carrier disruption, supply shortages, labour disputes, natural events, or failures of our production partners.

20. Changes to These Terms

You can review the most current version of these Terms at any time on this page. We may update, change or replace any part of them by posting a revised version and updating the "Last updated" date. Continuing to use the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes. The version in force at the time you place an order governs that order.
